The Psychology of Color

Color psychology is the study of color as a determinant of human behavior.        – Wikipedia

Color is such an important part of our lives.  If you believe in the Psychology of Color then you know that  there are colors that affect our well-being and our mood.

Color fits into every part of our lives from our home decor to our fashion to our moods and attitudes towards others.  Because I am a children’s room designer and boutique owner, I want to focus on nursery decor and color.

Here are some of the latest trends for 2013 nursery design courtesy of Project Nursery:

#1 Black and White with Color Pop

#2 Invest in the Crib, Not the Décor

#3 Wall Decals

#4 Metallic Accents

#5 Distressed Gray

#6 Traditional Made Modern

#7 Blues for Girls

Love these ideas and here are few more:

…..and the last thing I want to share are my favorite picks for boys and girls nurseries.  My style is very vintage and shabby chic, which you should be able to deduct from these pics.

The biggest thing to remember when planning your nursery is to do what makes you happy.  If you like something that may not be on “trend”….do it. You are going to be spending a lot of time in this room once that sweet little bundle arrives and you want to make sure that you like it as well.  My other advice is to make it changeable and adaptable easily so you can make subtle changes as baby gets older without redoing the whole room.
